Artist Statement
I always have a big passion for being a graphic designer. I love playing with colors and typographic in a creative way to impress people. Every project that I did contains variety of fonts and colors, which also challenges me and excites me. My major design concept is simple as possible, I try to make everything simple and straight forward. I think it is a more powerful way to deliver my message to the audience through the visual graphics I created than just a sentence of slogan. I also enjoy doing T-shirt designs and poster designs. My goal is to communicate with the audience and client through the images, the creative visual graphics and the typographic I created.

Artist Statement, Resume, and Art

Here is a link to my personal blog!

I am a person who is interested in knowing a little bit more about everything as long as I deem it to be within reason. Having said that I was unable to decide on a major for sometime with sincere interest in every subject I can think of. Finally though I settled on art as it became clear to me that I could not only show others what I learned and thought was interesting, but grapple with my emotions and life experience, while hopefully benefitting those around me through my work.

Revised Statement with Images

As a graduating B.F.A. Studio art major, I am still finding my own place within the art community. I do not have a grand artistic scheme; however; I have my own style an undercurrent of gritty color, which is prevalent in my work across mediums, as well as a fondness for geometric shapes.

W o r k, a simple four letter word, yet it marks the summation of five years of professionally learning and improving. Though I enjoy it all, Photography, Drawing, Painting, Illustration, Graphic design, my real passion is Web design.  I love the fusion of the technical code and design and it challenges me to make work that works on a fundamental level as well as an ever developing technological and graphical level. I have dabbled in web design since 2002 and have enjoyed watching the field expand and develop as I have over the past decade. Right now, I am finishing my minor in Web design and management and I know that what I have learned will be outdated if I don’t keep up with the ever advancing technologies. This presents a challenge that will keep me interested over the years to come. Personally, the act of creating art is driven by my desire to make people appreciate good design a little more, even if they do not understand why.

David Peniston: artist statement

Growing up with bum ankles and not being able to play sports or do other "normal" kid stuff, I was driven to express myself in creative ways early in life. I have always loved building things and working with my hands, and there was a time when I considered myself good at drawing, but I have since focused my creative energy on music and photography.
I mainly shoot black and white film with a myriad of lo-fi cameras.  The unpredictability of the lo-fi cameras is very important to me. The camera only captures what it wants to capture; when I click the shutter the resulting image is a compromise between what I want out of the picture and what the camera wants to capture. I try to create interesting abstract images (often multiple exposure) that make the viewer wonder what they are really looking at.    I like to think of my work as photographic remixing, taking bits and pieces of images and splicing them together all on one frame.

Revised 3-D Artist Statement with Images

Artist Statement

The physical experience with dimensional hardwoods is a contemplative and introspective activity. Crafting objects is a visceral and provocative experience, as are the final products, which often become utilitarian pieces that present themselves in much more subconscious ways than displayed works. To process my own dispositions, I must employ studies in three-dimensional media. I make objects to learn about myself, but I present my work to others to afford them the same indulgence. The prevailing idea in my work is meditation, for true thought and reflection are in many ways not commonplace. I intend my work to provide one with chances to quiet oneself and imagine, reflect, dream, or ponder. But the base, instinctive reality of the crafted furniture piece is its utilitarian, functional presence in ones life and activity. I design and craft these works to find the art in existence.

Revised 2-D Artist Statement with Images

Artist Statement

It is far easier to become lost in the process of imagining and crafting work than to explain it verbally. And yet, finding oneself and ones work sometimes just happens in the midst of being lost. Painting with light, or photography, is an intellectually and spiritually stimulating pursuit because its source, light, is intrinsically linked with the photograph’s final form. Light can simultaneously impact one’s vision and light-sensitive material or image sensor in a photographic device, alluring and challenging me. Always illuminating, revealing, exposing, light and its connections to the supernatural and spiritual give the making of images through the use of light dynamic significance, holding my perception captive. Although using photographic technology is now something of an oppressive, overplayed exercise, I am attracted to its meditative possibilities that so often go unemployed. Here I must mention painters like Piet Mondrian and Mark Rothko. But, photographically and conceptually, I should also reference David Maisel’s aerial photographic landscapes as influential to my visual concepts and photographic work.

Lawrence Paculan - Revised Artist Statement & Images

Self-existence has always been the focus I attempt to explore in both my 3-D and 2-D work. Being aware of our existence, life's biggest bound is time; therefore, time is what life is made out of. It's the bound that defines our individual freedom, perfection, and understand our relational attachments. All in all, my concept of time revolves around that balance of thoughts and actions motivated by current or future uncertainties. Although, there is no absolute truth to accepting a perfect identity if identity is being maintained constantly to the end of existence. We are born and we die, in between is the time that offers bounds and attachments that must be understood closely for self-perfection. My work usually renders ideas of my concept with surreal imagery as way for my audience to separate familiar forms of physical realities from the states of emotions that manifest into our spirit; which all together affect the way we maintain our identity. I feel that over the years my work aims to gather an audience that can relate to my idea of pursuing self-perfection through questions that represent absolute answers. The personal attachment rendered in my art has led me to explore self-defining questions my viewers can relate to; simply questioning their own attachment. How do you want to be remembered? If it is to make the you're "attached" loves ones proud of you, will you yourself be proud? What do you want for yourself so that you alone can be truthfully proud of yourself, as well as you're loved ones proud of you?

Art Satement Revised and Photos- Mariana Miller

An artist’s work come from an interest combined with something that has a personal meaning or effect. Despite my lack in psychological studies, I am greatly influenced my human emotions. My concept goes from analyzing a situation that everyone experiences, to the response that one has to a situation, to looking at the human form and anatomy in general. Using two-dimensional media I am able to create a portrayal of my thoughts, ideas, and research for others to see. I rarely show the human form as seen in every day life, but rather focus on realistic detail when necessary. My work revolves around the human form, so sex tends to be vague in my paintings and drawings. Emotion and information are my main focus and therefore symbolic color and emphasis in line are prominent.

chad carignan statement and pics

Over the years I have developed a keen interest in ceramics and the various forms of serving vessels as well as the ceremonies or practices involved with those vessels. Within the idea of ceramics as an art I believe there should be an aesthetic appeal to a form whether it functional or sculptural, it should appeal to the eye. In the world of functional ceramics I also believe there should also be an amount of comfort and enjoyment included in using a piece. The idea of comfort just seems to follow the natural way we consume most items; we like clothes that fit, keep us warm, and also look good. All of these ideas must come into form while I am making a ceramic vessel, aesthetics and comfort are as important with your drinking vessels as with any other product of consumption. Within this beauty and form I like to use asymmetry because of its practical applications in use as well as looks. We do not perform tasks in 90 and 180 degree angles and I would like to reflect this in my work. As well as a smooth operation I think an organic more asymmetric form also is more intriguing to the eye and gives ideas of motion leading to use.
