I arrange, destroy, and reconstruct mundane objects into sculptural forms and then I photograph them. I like to take utilitarian objects and strip them from their intentions and manipulate them into something purely aesthetic. The goal is to engage the viewer in a conversation about the representation of objects as material and form.
What is the inspiration for your work?
ReplyDeleteis this statement just for this project? I know you have other works that are different, or is this your new focus?
ReplyDeleteYes Tyler, this is the new focus. Mari, in terms of inspiration, I think that I can attribute my method to artists like Peter Fischli David Weiss, Duane Michals, and Bernard Voita... studio based photographers--more focused on capturing, or documenting a sort of fleeting creation. In terms of motivation, It's important for me to just fuck around with material... I make more shit that way.
